‘A cancelled flight mix-up left me £7,000 out of pocket’

In March 2024 I reserved two executive class flights of British Airways back to Kuala Lumpur through Opodo, using a credit coupon that I received for a flight that I canceled at the beginning of the year. I had to fly in January, but in November I received a notification that Ba had canceled these flights. OPODE has not repeatedly reimburse or re -issue a credit coupon for flights, which cost £ 6,935, despite numerous phone calls and emails. I am not sure if there is a technical problem (as he has affirmed) or if he only hopes he surrenders me. In any case, I have no idea how or if I am going to recover almost £ 7,000. Ba has said because I booked through opode, it can’t help. Can?

It seems that this sequence of events was too complicated so that Opodo could handle. You used your guarantee of “canceling for any reason” to obtain a credit coupon for the flight that you canceled and any subsequent cancellation should also have reimbursed with credit. But a customer service agent erroneously confirmed that he was entitled to cash reimbursement, which led to confusion and not processing any type of payment. After getting involved, Opodo agreed to a complete reimbursement in cash as a gesture of goodwill. A spokesman said: “We sincerely apologize to Mrs. Mason for the delay in resolving his case and we are pleased to confirm that a reimbursement and compensation have been issued for the inconveniences caused.”

My husband and I were going to fly in Norse Atlantic Airways from Gatwick to Cape Town in South Africa on February 15 at 8 pm after receiving three emails that warn us about delays on the flight, the last explanation that the game was now at 10.45 pm, we arrived at the Gatwick airport at 8 pm, which were two hours and 45 minutes before our Reprogrammed takeoff (we could not register online because it was not available for this flight). All check-in desks were closed with only a service management agent, who told us that we should have registered at the original registration time, which would have meant reaching 7pm at the latest. If Check-in time remained the same, why send an email if it had no difference to what the customer should do? We had additional costs of more than 1,000 for new flights and a hotel room, and we would like complete compensation for them, as well as additional compensation for the inconveniences and anguish that this has caused.

It does not seem irrazonable to expect that if a flight time has been delayed, the registration time will also do so, but unfortunately it is not how the airlines work. Unless you are specifically told that you do not go to the airport at your original check-in, you must comply with those times. One reason for this is that the flight delay can actually be shorter than expected. Therefore, there is no possibility of any compensation, or for its additional expenses or the anguish it suffered. My husband and I are planning to travel to Greece in mid -September. We would like to spend three nights in Athens and four in other places next to the sea to relax and explore. Can you suggest islands or resorts that would not be too far from Athens and there is a company that would recommend to organize a trip like this?

The Greek Odyssey begins with three nights in the intelligent and neoclassical Acropolis Vision Hotel in Athens, which has wonderful views of (what you guessed) the acropolis of its terrace on the roof and bar, and is located 15 minutes at the foot of most of the key historical sites of the city. Then, go to Agistri, the smallest and less known of the Saronic Islands and a favorite with Week Athenians because they are only 55 minutes in Ferry. You can expect the rambling, good beaches and the pile of taverns and cafes choose in the coastal town of Skala. Make boat trips to the nearby Aegine and the Peloponnese continent, or go riding a horse, kayak or snorkeling if you feel energetic. Stay in the comfortable Oasis Scala Beach Hotel, in an excellent place next to the Paseo Marítimo. Starting on September 22, this trip of two centers costs from £ 1,386pp, including seven B&B nights, Gatwick’s return flights with Hold Luggage and all transfers, including ferry (Sunvil.co.uk).

✉ We are looking for a villa somewhere in Europe to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday in the second week of July 2026. We want accommodation for five or six couples (preferably all of Suite) and a private pool. It is unlikely that everyone comes throughout the week, so it must be easily accessible in airports and we would like to walk a couple of bars/restaurants. Our budget is approximately 10,000 for accommodation. Any suggestion?

9 things to take into account when booking a holiday from Villa

I think it is very likely that everyone comes throughout the week if more Emilie, a beautifully restored 18th century farm in Magane, near St Rory of Provence, in southern France. Sleeping up to 12 in six rooms, it has a heated pool and the kitchen opens to a shaded terrace with a stone dining table, ideal for outdoor meals. But if you want to eat outside, Mailane restaurants are 25 minutes. It costs £ 10,205 for a week in July 2026 (Akvillas.com) and the nearest airport is Nîmes, while Avignon is the nearest TGV station.

✉ We have reserved a trip to Ireland in December to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We fly to cork on Friday afternoon and leave Dublin on Tuesday morning. I am anxious to incorporate an Irish field in our itinerary. Could you suggest where to stay in Cork and Dublin (we don’t want to pay more than 200 per night) and a stop on the road? We will not hire a car, so we will have to travel by bus or train.

The new Retirement of Forests from Ireland, near its most lively city

Stay on the Montenotte, in a hill with a view to the Lee River and the port in Cork. There is a 15 -minute walk from the city center, it has crunch views from its roof terrace, and its spa and Dinky cinema with free projections will be a blessing if the weather is not very cooperative (which is very likely in December). B&B of two nights during a weekend of December of £ 425 in a double room (Themontenottehotel.com). Get the train instead of the bus to Dublin, breaking your trip in Thurles from where you could take a bus or taxi to one of the most famous reference points in Ireland, Cashel’s rock, the old seat of the kings of Munster (Heritageireland.IE). In Dublin, the new and elegant Chancery hotel is in a privileged position near Dublin Castle and the district of Temple Bar parts. Two nights at the end of its stay they begin in £ 323, only in the room (Thechanceryhotel.ie).
