Customers are given access to the room or a chosen benefit.
China Ping An Insurance (Hong Kong) and Collinson International were associated to offer Smartdelay as a free benefit for eligible online travel insurance customers.
The association allows customers who have registered their flight to access more than 1,600 airport rooms or alternative benefits, such as spa experiences, sleep capsules or discounts in restaurants, in case of a delay or flight cancellation.
Smartdelay is available at the three levels of China Ping An Insurance (Hong Kong) online of travel insurance policies.
Once notified of a delay of more than an hour or cancellation, customers receive a QR code that gives access to the chosen room or benefit.
The registration must be completed at least two hours before the scheduled output. The policy also covers an additional person who travels with the insurer.
The initiative occurs when the trip in Asia Pacific is quickly recovered after the pandemic, with 33 million travelers affected by delays in the flight of more than an hour.
A study by Collinson International found that six out of ten travelers in the region fight to relax when they face problems prior to the flight.
