SAS Reveals Launch Date for New Short-Haul Business Class on European Flights

The short hops throughout Europe gets a little more glamorous this fall, if it flies with the Scandinavian airlines. The Copenhagen headquarters has just announced that it will launch a new short distance executive class on flights within Europe, starting October 1.

The new product will be a cabin dedicated in the front of the plane, separated by a curtain and a upper divisor. Passengers flying in the new Spiffed cabin will have a new gastronomic experience with premium porcelain dishes and blocked intermediate seats for additional elbow space.

In the field, the flyers in the SAS executive class will receive access to the living room, priority check-in priority.

The new class is complying with a “increasing demand for the premium service client”, according to the airline, and the product provides “a high experience adapted to customers seeking comfort, flexibility and a higher level of service.”

The cabin will be offered on all international European flights, including those within Scandinavia, and rates go on sale on May 6.

“Many of our travelers focused on comfort and quality expect a clearly defined European business class that is aligned with international standards,” says Paul Verhagen, commercial director of SAS. “While Sas Plus has provided an improved experience, has lacked the recognition and clarity that travelers are looking for. With the reintroduction of the European executive class, we make sure that SAS offers the premium experience of a higher European airline.”

Airlines around the world have been designing new cabins, seats and rooms to meet the growing demand for a premium flight experience, which has only increased by 2025 as the most sensitive passengers that usually fly in the coach are usually spending less in the middle of an unstable economy.
