Gigasure urges holidaymakers to ensure adequate travel insurance this Easter | London Daily News

It is expected that more than half a million families travel abroad during Easter holidays, taking advantage of children’s school holidays and the days off days offered by holidays.

Traveling with children often means carrying many ‘kits’, and Gigasure’s calculations discovered that when they go abroad on vacation, the average child can have more than £ 4,000 in items with them. When you take into account all the articles you have with you on vacation when you travel with children, from buggies, car seats, entertainment, toys, clothing, dressing tables and more (see the appendix below), the value of all these combined items soon increases.

  • Children can travel with £ 4,000 in articles
  • Parents can find that they have a deficit in insurance coverage if they need to make a claim

Gigasure’s research, insurance specialists, discovered that many families who go abroad during Easter holidays can find that they do not have insurance because they do not have a sufficient level of travel insurance to cover the value of the personal belongings they take with them.

The average travel insurance policy will cover a traveler for about £ 2,000 of belongings. This generally includes up to £ 300 per single article, value objects of up to £ 300, and the devices cover up to £ 300, leaving more valuable items such as buggies, car seats and digital devices effectively through a standard policy in case the items are lost, damaged or stolen. This could leave parents exposed and potentially £ 1,000 in their pocket if they need to make a claim.

Ernesto Suárez, CEO of Gigasure, says: “Traveling as a young family is a great opportunity for those who can, but, of course, children often need many articles and equipment so that the trip works more perfection. We do not want to think about the articles that are lost or damaged in transit, but the reality is that if that happens, those key elements must be replaced and quickly.

“The cost of vacation can be high, particularly with the increase in household bills and other financial pressures, and it can be tempting to save money by not having travel insurance or not having coverage high enough for their needs. We want to prevent parents from potentially to stay thousands of pounds from their pocket if they need to make a claim.

“Before traveling, see the small impression of your insurance policy to see what you are covered and make some quick calculations to see how much the items you have with you would cost to replace. Large ticket items such as buggies and car seats, for example, it is likely that it is more than the limit of £ 300.
