G Adventures launches 20 off-the-beaten-track Indonesia tours

G Adventures has launched 20 new trips on the islands of Indonesia, whose objective is to visit less known areas and focus on community tourism.

The new itineraries of small groups are found in the classic travel style of G Adventure and visit Sulawesi and Kalimantan. There are also tours in Bali, Lombok and Borneo that will move away travelers from popular sites or will offer the opportunity to spend time in community projects developed by the non -profit partner of G Adventures, Planterra.

The 20 new classic trips can be combined, giving travelers the opportunity to see more in the country if they choose several shorter a week, while there are also longer itineraries of 21 to 29 days.

Yves Marceau, vice president of products in G Adventures, said: “We wanted to bring something exciting to Indonesia that introduced the travelers of G Adventures to the true culture and adventure that exists there.

“Indonesia is undoubtedly a popular tourist destination, but most travel opportunities in the region focus on Bali and Lombok, while other places and communities remain invisible.

“We wanted to renew our trips to the country, and create others completely new, to give travelers the opportunity to spend more time in community projects in well -known islands, or travel more deeply in the country, taking them much further from the threshing road.

“This provides the benefits of tourist income to other parts of Indonesia, but also gives travelers the opportunity to be truly adventurous and learn from fascinating communities that live here.”

Sulawesi’s new adventure: Tana Toraja’s culture is a nine -day tour that can even include the opportunity to attend a Torajan funeral. It costs from £ 1,199, with departures of December 14.

“Communities in Tana Toraja have a unique perspective on how life, death and beyond are intertwined and this trip offers travelers the opportunity to understand more about this unique belief system,” Marceau added.

“The people of Torajan honor the death of their loved ones with funeral celebrations throughout the village, which families save for years to pay.

“We have worked with the communities to allow our groups to visit the villages to attend these unique celebrations when they are held.

“By taking G Adventures travelers to the region, we are helping communities access communities to access tourist income and use it in a way that matters to them.”

A seven -day tour called Indonesia is also new: Borneo Oranguutans of the Tanjung Puting National Park, which includes three nights aboard a traditional Klotok boat.

Customers will also visit the Orangután Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation Center for Huérphan Orangutans and Camp Leakey, a Oranutan Conservation and Rehabilitation Center. It costs from £ 1,179, with departures on November 8.
