It is estimated that more than 2.3 million travelers made the mistake last year, according to new investigation into travel insurance errors.
Now they are warned of travelers who do not make the same slip this year, or otherwise they run the risk of being abroad without adequate insurance coverage.
The study asked travelers when they bought their insurance last year, and 8% admitted that they left it until they were already abroad to do so.

This means that most of these tourists would probably have not been protected if they needed to claim.
Among travelers at risk, 1.19 million said they didn’t know about this rule, which means they didn’t know that their policy could have been invalid.
Interestingly, more than 1.1 million visitors admitted that they knew that buying a policy would cancel their coverage, but proceeded to do it anyway, which means they paid to know for non -valid insurance.
Rhys Jones, an expert in travel insurance at Go..
“If you buy a policy once it is out of the country, or in some cases before, this cancels its coverage. This is to protect insurers against any fraudulent claim.
“If you forgot to buy a policy until it was too late, you should seek to buy a later travel insurance, something that is usually only available from a small number of suppliers.
“This could take a little more time to enter into force, but I should cover it for most things that a regular policy will do.

“If you only remember at the last minute, you can still buy a policy the day you travel. Just remember to verify what you are covered for, since things like cancellation coverage can be lost.
“However, buying it at the eleventh hour is even better than risking a non -protection vacation.”
Martin Lewis urgent travel insurance warning
Martin Lewis has issued an urgent warning to anyone who plans a vacation this year, and anyone who has already reserved.
The money savings expert has told travelers to act ‘right now’ to potentially lose money on their trip.
Speaking in Martin Lewis Money Show of ITV in Live, the personal finance expert urged everyone to obtain his Asab travel insurance, as soon as I reserve.
Mr. Lewis said: “Travel insurance is not just to cover it when it is outside, it is also very important to cover it in case something happens before going to stop it.
“I have a rule. You should get your Asab travel insurance, as soon as reserves.
“Many people have already reserved, if you do not have your travel insurance and your vacation are reserved, do it right now.
“Every year, someone asks me a question, something like ‘I have been diagnosed with cancer and I can’t go on vacation, they say we can’t recover our money, what should we do?’
“The answer is to get to your travel insurance, and they say ‘I still don’t have it.’
“Do not get your travel insurance the day before going on vacation, get Asab.”
