Germany’s Lufthansa bets on booming Indian outbound travel with ultra-luxury first-class suites

As international trips of India increase, Lufthansa is preparing to offer ultra luxury flight experiences to their passengers. The German airline is implementing its allegris cabin review, an investment of € 2.5 billion ($ 2.7 billion) that introduces high -class first class suites and exclusive business class seats.

Lufthansa has confirmed that Allegris’s luxury updates will soon be available on flights that connect India with global centers. The routes to Mumbai and Bangalore will receive the new first class and business class configurations in the coming months. Currently, airplanes equipped with Allegis operate on routes from Munich to Shanghai, Chicago and San Francisco, with a greater planned expansion.

A first class return ticket from Munich to Shanghai ranges from € 7,400 and € 9,250, which makes it one of the most premium offers on the market. With the addition of Indian routes, Lufthansa aims to take advantage of the growing demand for ultra luxurious trips, positioning itself as a leading option for high -value travelers who fly to and from India.

Ultra luxurious first class suites

For the first time, Lufthansa offers first -class closed suites with floor walls and nearby doors, improving privacy and exclusivity. The three suites configuration includes two individual suites and a “plus suite” of double occupation.

  • First class suites: Each suite has a 1 meter wide seat, a 4K 32 -inch screen, individual climate control, a personal wardrobe and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Suite Plus: Designed for two passengers, this suite offers a double -feet bed, a 43 -inch entertainment screen and fine height capabilities. Solo travelers can book the entire suite for € 1,900 to € 2,900, depending on the route.

Premium executive class improvements

The Lufthansa Allegris executive class also presents seven seat variations, which attends to individual preferences. High -end executive class options include:

  1. First row suites: More spacious and private, with additional storage and exclusive comforts. The surcharges vary from € 400 to € 600.
  2. Throne seats: Central purpose with additional work space, ideal for business travelers. The rates vary from € 130 to € 230.
  3. Long extra bed: An extended 2.2 meters (7 feet, 2 inches) bed for comfort, which costs € 100 to € 170.
  4. Window seats: Alternative designs that offer corridor or full window positioning, with a price between € 100 and € 170.

Lufthansa is also strengthening its European connectivity for Indian travelers by offering perfect transfers to key leisure destinations, including Paris, Zurich and Vienna. The airline is looking to capitalize on the strong demand for premium trips to Europe, especially among Indian tourists and rich corporate travelers.


According to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA), international passenger traffic in India grew by more than 20% in 2023, and the demand for premium trips increased sharply. A significant part of this growth is attributed to Indian travelers who increasingly choose European destinations for leisure and business.
