9 things that shocked me flying business class for the first time as a former flight attendant

As a former hostess, I have spent my fair part of time in heaven. From welcoming guests on board to serve meals and offer drinks, my world turned completely around making passengers as comfortable as possible.

Recently I had the opportunity to fly executive class in Etihad Airways from Toronto to Abu Dhabi and back. After having experienced a standard version of the executive class as a hostess, I was excited to fly as a passenger and discover how luxurious it is really the high etihad.

Etihad, the Eau National Airline, increased its service to Canada last October, with daily flights in its Airbus A350 from Toronto Pearson airport. The plane offers a quieter and more modern cabin with an exclusive design and travel comforts. As soon as I climbed on board, it was clear that this was not a flight.

From private suites to the dinners of several dishes, the executive class experience of Etihad went far beyond everything he had experienced in the economy.

This is what surprised me the most on my 14 -hour executive flight flight as an former hostess.

I was totally spoiled even before taking off

As a former hostess, I have served drinks prior to the game in the executive class, but Etihad takes it to another level.

At the time I settled in my seat, they welcomed me with a fresh juice of my choice and a snack of mixed nuts.

Then came a warm towel for my hands, followed by a drunken Bellini who made me feel less as if he were on a plane and more as if he were being spoiled in a spa.

The seat is basically a hotel mini room

The most amazing part of the executive class of Etihad? The suite in heaven.

In the A350, each private suite feels more like a personal hotel room than a seat on a plane. With tons of leg space and an adjustable seat that is flattened in a bed, it was difficult to believe that it was 35,000 feet.

The suites are complete with a 18.5 -inch touch screen that offers a variety of games, shows and movies, and I did not waste time starting a Harry Potter marathon.

There were so many small details throughout the suite that made the experience even better: from the incorporated wireless charger and humor lighting to small compartments around my seat where I could store my smaller essential elements.

My flight was delayed to take off thanks to the famous winter climate of Toronto and, usually, that would have stopped things. This time, however, he was harassed in my private capsule with a movie and a Bellini in his hand, I barely noticed the additional wait.

Crew members are so attentive

The Etihad service was incredible and made the trip much more pleasant.

As soon as I sat, they greeted me and they attended me as if I were the only passenger on board. The crew went to me by name and was aware of the small details, such as closing the blinds while sleeping so that the sun woke up or close my capsule so that I could have additional privacy.

The service kit is exaggerated

Opening my comfort kit was felt like Christmas morning. I used to deliver amenities kits on flights, but this went further.

Designed by Giorgio Armani, the kits are full of luxury skin care and everything you can desire during their flight.

Inside, from the facial fog of the spa to a toothbrush and a toothpaste, lip treatment and body lotion.

The meal service feels like an elegant restaurant

He was curious to see how the Etihad business class food would be compared with the meals he had served while working as a hostess. Spoiler alert: it was the next level.

To my surprise, instead of a standard food service, they told me that I could ask for my food at any time during the flight. My seat was equipped with an extensive menu with drinks, meals of three dishes and dishes to the letter.

There were no plastic containers: the food was served in real dishes with real cutlery, which adds to the general luxury experience.

From the chicken dinner of several plates to the eggs and the salachic breakfast, I felt that I was having dinner in an exclusive restaurant.

The airline went further when it came to comfort

The flight included so many reflexive details that made my trip very comfortable.

Additions such as shoes, headphones with noise cancellation and a sleeping mask made the flight much more cozy. I was surprised when the hostess asked me for the size of my clothes and handed me a full room set; I did not expect 35,000 feet.

The seat is like a real bed

The bed in flight was one of the things that was most excited to experiment, and it was better than I could have imagined.

The seat not only reclines, it is completely adjustable from a side panel, which allows me to move the rest and rest on my preferred position.

When the time came for a closed eye, I reclined the seat in a completely flat bed with an Armani foam mattress for more comfort.

With the high walls of the suite, the quiet cabin and the comfortable bed, I felt that he was the only person on the plane.

The only inconvenience? I was so excited about comfort, the adjustable bed, the snacks and the entertainment system that I barely slept, although I must say it was worth it.

Putting at the airport was really pleasant

On my return flight from Abu Dhabi, I was able to experience some of the executive class advantages at Zayed International Airport, the “most beautiful airport in the world” and Etihad Airways’s home.

From dedicated registration areas to a private immigration lane, going through the airport was very easy, something that I certainly did not experience as a hostess.

Before addressing, I decided to visit Business Lounge, which covers multiple floors and has a bar, relaxation areas and a buffet of the next level full of food.

General thoughts

Flying Business Class was a completely new and one that I will not forget soon.

Of course, luxury has a price. A round trip ticket from Toronto to Abu Dhabi begins at $ 6,093 for the executive class during the low season, so it is a serious waste.

Economic tickets for the same route begin at $ 921 during the low season.

If I were paying your pocket, I would probably keep the economy unless it was a special occasion. Usually, I don’t have a large travel budget, so I prefer to spend my money on experiences once it arrives.

Etihad also offers an additional leg space for the economy, which gives you additional comfort without an executive class price label.

That said, if you really value comfort and you are willing to waste, the executive class of Etihad makes your long -lasting trip feel as part of the holidays itself.
