The Cañón del Colorado Granadino is not just a geologic wonder; it also holds cultural significance. The area has been inhabited since ancient times, and evidence of human presence can be found throughout the canyon. Ruins of old mills and irrigation systems serve as a reminder of the ingenuity of past civilizations and their ability to adapt to and utilize the surrounding natural resources.

To protect and preserve this unique geological and cultural treasure, the Cañón del Colorado Granadino is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Granada. The geopark aims to promote sustainable tourism and education, ensuring that future generations can continue to appreciate and learn from this natural marvel.
